Over the last few months I put together six Still Life Painting videos and have posted them to YouTube. In each, I narrate throughout, discussing my painting process and how I see value & colour temperature in the objects.
If you enjoy still life painting and want to get better or are just wondering how to start still life painting, any of these should provide tidbits of information to move forward with.
If you find you have questions, leave a comment on this page or directly on YouTube.

All Still Life painting videos can be found in my YouTube playlist.
Ok, I think I’ve found what I’m looking for. I saw your “loose painting of a plum” while I was searching the net for instruction on how to paint loosely. So I’m going to have to look over all the videos you’ve posted, looks like a bunch, and try to learn how to loosen up. I like the way that while you paint loosely you still retain control over your brush. I like that. I think I’ve subscribed to everything possible, let me know if I missed something. It doesn’t look like you offer online courses but it would be good if you had something similar. Can’t get over for workshops. So that’s all for now from across the water, Richard.
Thanks Richard. I don’t think you missed anything so when I do get around to an online course you should get notification.
You hit the nail on the head when you mention brush control. It essential for everything, even when painting loose.
Cheers!
