Lanscape :: Oil on Board

Posted on May 26, 2010

My latest landscape in oil. This seems to be a start of my style as I have a complete a few studies that turned out this way as well. All my brush strokes are created with a sweeping motion. We will see how it evolves.

I recently rearranged my studio setup and am finding it much more enjoyable to paint. I really have to get going and complete a few for upcoming shows.

New Medium :: Oil Paint

Posted on January 7, 2009

Well, it official. I have moved into a new medium – oil paints. I have to say it is much more difficult than it looks. I found myself either having too little or too much paint on the brush, forgetting to clean my brushes and a handfull of other things that will take awhile to get used to.

All in all it was a very enjoyable experience. This result is OK for me and I would have liked to get a little more detail into it, but with working wet in wet it was difficult.

I think I’ll practice more before trying another.

Gamblin Oil Paint :: From Life

Posted on January 6, 2009

I finally got my still life stand set up beside my easel. Now I just need to try and use it everyday.

Today I took one of the first things I saw, a tube of ultramarine gamblin oil paint, and painted it from life. I started with a sketch then toned the board using watercolours. After it was dry it was time for the pastel.
