If you have countless tubes of paint that you never use or are just starting out and are overwhelmed with all the colours available, this workshop is for you.
I cover, in detail, how to determine a colours value, the colour mixing of pigments, the importance of colour temperature and how to make the shifts, mixing realistic greens, how to mix neutral colours, the importance of standardizing your palette, and how to fix those muddy or chalky colours, plus much more.

Michael is enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. Classes were well planned and often supplemented with “hand outs” or information on great web sites to explore. His demonstration paintings were detailed yet simply presented and easy to understand. He gave a lot of individual help to everyone and was able to offer suggestions to improve your painting, many of which can be applied to all my painting projects.
Because of his solid technical skills and eye for detail he was able to give us good constructive feedback, help us with modifications, and provided the necessary tweaking of color, tonal value and composition. He made a point of ensuring that each of us received the individual attention we needed (which is hard to do in a group of 16!) He has the gift of being able to explain things in a clear and concise way which he does with a great sense of humor and relaxed style.
Michael’s extensive artist knowledge, never ending patience and infectious humour, made the whole experience a most enjoyable journey. Chicken scratches turned into magical creative strokes, just by using Michael’s awesome brush techniques. Knowledge of correct positioning of facial features, and how to mix and apply realistic skin tones, brought my portrait to life!
