My painting, "Luscious", just won the FCA "Best in Show" in the Red & Gold exhibition. To say I am delighted is an understatement.

Still Life Box
Posted on January 28, 2008

I posted my still life box in a post regarding my Painting A Week #4 on WetCanvas and was asked to show how I made the box itself. So, for those of you that are interested, here is a PDF of the instructions on how to make one.

PAW #4
Posted on January 27, 2008
Number 4 is complete. It took about an hour to finish. The 9×12 Canson is a tough paper to work on when you are used to sanded paper. I have to use a much lighter touch and it doesn’t allow near as many layers.
I used a new still life box I made that incorporates four flaps that can be opened depending on where I want the light to come from. Either side, back or top. Best of all it mounts to a tripod as well.

Still Life :: Bottles
Posted on January 20, 2008
I am working on a "January Project" via WetCanvas right now and thought I would post the work on it so far. This is a detail shot of the top of two bottles in the scene.
More to come later this week.

Painting A Week #3 :: Gerbera
Posted on January 18, 2008
This is one of the larger paintings I have been working on since the new year. Given the timely finish this week I am using this toward my "Painting a Week" endeavour. You can view the Work In Progress (WIP) is a previous post.
The petals took most of the time, actually I would have to say the petals took ALL the time in this painting. The centre, stem and background were all completed withing an hour. The petals, were completed over two weeks.
This painting is 19×25" on Sennielier La Carte paper. Artists private collection. Reproductions available on request via my contact page.
